Cooking with Kenzie

I wanted to share with you Makenzie's first meal she has cooked for the family- this is a REAL meal. Last night I was planning on fixing Potato Soup for dinner. I asked Makenzie if she would like to help mommy with dinner. Of course she was thrilled that I asked and said "YES!"

So I pushed a chair up to the sink and she climbed up to help. I started to peel the potatoes while she rinsed them off and laid them to the side. After peeling and rinsing, I cut up the potatoes while she put the cut up parts in the big pot. Afterwards, she pour the chicken broth, salt and pepper in the pot with the potatoes. I then turned on the stove and told her that we have to clean up while the potatoes cook. She then climbed back on the chair and rinsed all the dishes ALL BY HERSELF and handed them to me to put in the dishwasher. She was so cute saying "Here ya go!" after every single piece she rinsed off. After all the dishes were in the dishwasher, she added the cheese and milk to the boiling pot of soup. She helped mommy stir the soup and then we let it simmer for a few more minutes. She was SO proud of herself for cooking dinner! Daddy made sure to tell her that her soup was very yummy and she did a great job!

It is times like last night that make me cherish my children even more and gives me a glimpse to what I have to look forward to in my life. :)
