Competitiveness 101

Weekends.... we live for the weekends.  The peaceful, yet VERY busy weekends.  Our Saturday mornings, for the past year, have consisted of Makenzie taking gymnastics.  Here recently, Wesley joined in on the fun.  He has sat on the side lines all this time watching her, wanting to climb all over the bars, balance beam and trampoline.  So, we figured we would give him a shot at gymnastics too.  So far (at least the past 4 weeks) he has enjoyed it.  We have seen a side of competitiveness come out in the two of them. Since Makenzie has been taking gymnastics for the past year, she has the fundamentals/basics down.  Wesley is just learning them.  This doesn't "sit" with Wesley so well. He does NOT like his little sister being better at something than him. There have been MANY teaching moments, many tears, and we know that there will be many more to come.  Wesley is very proud of him self when he comes home and tells us all about the flips he did on the bars and the different tumbling moves.  Makenzie is always practicing her handstands, cartwheels, and back bends.  I think we have finally found a "sport/activity" that BOTH kids actually enjoy, and they are doing it together! :) We shall see how long this will last! Have a great first week of Spring!
