I know that I haven't blogged in a few weeks but I have been BUSY! After the kids both had swimming lessons I became sick with Laryngitis and bronchitis, then we took a mini vacation to the beach with some friends, the Butts, and for the past week I have been preparing for our church's VBS. While I was sick I was Well taken care of by my kids. Glen, of course, was out of town (everything happens when he goes out of town!) The first day I was actually running a fever I stayed in bed unless I needed to feed the kids.They have reached an age where Playhouse Disney and PBS kids will entertain all morning and then naps are in the afternoon. Plus, they usually play very well together and entertain themselves very well. Makenzie would come in my room every so often and "check on me." She would climb up on the bed and cover me up and tell me "feel better mommy!" It was sooooo sweet! After finally getting some meds in me I had to start packing for our beach trip. It was a GREAT weekend! The kids had a blast on the beach, they are such beach babies! We went to play putt putt, went to the NAS Museum in Pensacola, and went to the "pirate store" (Souvenir City) about 4 times. All the little boys are REALLY into pirates so they begged to go in there all the time!
After we were home recovering from our beach vacation and gearing up for our 7 year anniversary/4th of July weekend we received some sad news. Glen's grandmother, Erma Hall, passed away in her sleep on July 3rd. His grandfather/her husband, Fred Hall, passed away just 4 short months ago, so this was difficult on the family. The one comfort that was given to the family was that she passed away in her sleep and doesn't appear to have suffered much. She was a very Godly woman and will be missed.
This past week I have been preparing for VBS at our church. Our theme was "Moses: A walk through the Desert". It was very cute if I say so myself! :) Usually we have a 5 day VBS but this year we changed it up a little and had a weekend VBS. I ended up spending the entire week up at the church building trying to get everything prepared for the big weekend. This year was a little different for me because in the past if I was the Director someone else would be in charge of the story room or vice versa. This year I did both and it was a handful! I am happy with the turn out and if I didn't have the help that I had then I wouldn't have been able to pull it off! (Thank you to all that helped before, during and after!!!!!!)
So after a VERY busy past month I am gearing up for my summer to quickly come to an end. This week will be busy as I try to get all of the kids school supplies bought and uniforms purchased. On Saturday we are headed to the beach for 5 days then back home for just a few days before I start my first day of work at Mobile Christian. Then the kids start school the following week! I can't believe how fast the summer has gone by!
