Maturity

One week down, many more to go! This first week back to school has been busy, but fun! The kids are LOVING their new classes and teachers! Wesley has already come home reading! Makenzie has been picked, already, to bring home the special "Bearenstein Bears book bag" and Silent Sammy. This is a HUGE deal in K4! We are constantly learning new songs and hearing VERY interesting stories about what all goes on every day in class. (Mrs. Liz and Mrs. Lisa- I won't believe everything they come home saying is you don't believe everything they come to school saying! :) ) There are several new students this year and I am enjoying getting to know every one of them just like my own kids are doing. I love getting all the hugs too!
I must say, one of the perks of getting back into a "school schedule" is the EARLY bedtime- for the kids and ME! The kids are crashing at 7:15-7:30 and I am not far behind! It is so nice to have wiped out kids every night. Granted I still have plenty to get done to prepare for the next day but I crash not long after I am done with all my "duties".
Glen has been traveling ALOT this past month ( gone basically every week and home on the weekends) so the kids are filling him in every night over the phone on all the school activities and adventures. When Makenzie was chosen to take Silent Sammy home she was so excited that the first thing she said to me was "I get Silent Sammy and Daddy is home to see him!" Glen wasn't home when she brought home the special Bearenstein Bears bag, but he was home the one night she got to bring home Sammy.
We have noticed the maturity in our kids not only at school but at home too. Both are dressing themselves, bathing themselves, putting their laundry away by themselves, and they even make their bed every morning by themselves! They both have "chores/duties" that are theirs (ex:Wesley takes the trash out of the bathroom, Makenzie brings the dirty clothes basket to the laundry room...) They love to "clean their dishes" every night after dinner, too. As a parent, you wonder if these days will every come and now that they are here I pray that it won't end! :)
We are looking forward to what the next few months hold for our family and our kids at school. I love seeing and hearing all the new things they are learning and I am constantly amazed at how quickly they absorb things. It is hard to believe in just a few months Wesley will be graduating from kindergarten and Makenzie will be starting kindergarten! Time sure flies when you are having fun!
