The devil works in many ways and sometimes we don't see what he is doing to us until AFTER we have gone through it. This past weekend we went on our Young Professionals Retreat with our church group. We, Glen and I, have been planning this weekend since last August. We have put numerous hours into planning this weekend praying that it would go on without a hitch. As the weekend got closer the numbers of those attending were low. It was so low that many times Glen wanted to just cancel and forget the whole thing. We said many things and had many thoughts on why people didn't sign up. Some were legit reasons and conflicts, and there were some that didn't give a reason. Because of the numbers that signed up I went into the weekend thinking it would be a bust and had the worst attitude. I now know that this was the devil working in me. It turned out to be an amazing weekend! Even though the numbers were low, it was (as a friend said) the QUALITY not the QUANTITY that mattered! I got a chance to step away from my fast pace life and take in God's artwork. Glen and I got some much needed time to ourselves Friday night and early Saturday morning on a 4wheel ride on the trails. I love the peaceful feeling that I had sitting in the paddle boat and enjoying time with my friends and the beauty of nature around me. After that we had an hour of silence to just be with God. It was amazing sitting there in his masterpiece and thanking him for all that he has shown me and given me.
I am very thankful that we did not cancel this much needed weekend! Some things are not seen until hindsight. I can see how powerful the devil works to discourage me and bring me down. I pray that I can continue to stay strong and keep my focus on things above.

I'm glad you've started blogging again. If you keep up with it, you'll be surprised how much it helps to have a place to get your thoughts together. :)
And I'm glad to hear that the weekend turned out well regardless! So glad you and Glen had a little time to yourselves!
