At the end it was a wonderful week!
This past week was a whirlwind of emotions! You know the kind of week where you start out stressed then moved to worried then on to relaxed and at peace. Wesley had his Birmingham procedure on Wednesday morning so we headed to Birmingham on Tuesday afternoon. The kids Love staying at hotels so they were thrilled when we pulled up to the hotel for the night. All they wanted to do was go swimming but it was still too cool. Since they were riding for 4hours they were BOUNCING off the walls for the next 2 hours till bedtime! Too much built up ENERGY! The next morning we headed to UAB outpatient clinic for Wesley's procedure. The clinic was kid friendly with a playroom and toys to ride in and TV's in the rooms for the kids to watch while waiting. After waiting for about 45mins, Wesley was finally called back. Glen and I were able to walk to the double doors where we handed him over to the nurse to go back, parents are not allowed in the operating room. This was the hardest part of the day. Handing my little boy over to someone else to care for, while he SCREAMS "mommy, mommy!" and reaches out for me as the nurse took him away. Oh, the pain, worry, and guilt I felt! I felt helpless and so worried! Glen gave me a hug and we returned to the room and waited on Wesley to return. Makenzie was so sweet while we waited. She was constantly asking for Wesley and wanted to know where he was and what he was doing. We told her that he was sleeping and the Dr. was looking at him. She told us that she didn't want to wake up Wesley because he was tired! She can be such a sweet little sister! About 45mins later Wesley was brought back to the room and the good news was given. Everything looked fine! The bad news was that we still don't know what is causing the wheezing. The next step is to continue monitoring him the next few months and if he gets worse we will take him to get tested for asthma. After a few more minutes we were able to leave and continue on our trip. We stayed in the Birmingham area 1 more day for Glen to work then on to Chattanooga to spend time with Dad and Kathy.
Chattanooga was a blast! We went to the park, the zoo, rode a carousel, rode a REAL train, and the kids and Glen even got to go swimming even though the water was like ICE! It was so nice to relax and enjoy some family time too! The kids loved playing playdough and bubbles with KK (Kathy) and going for walks and seeing the miniture horses with PawPaw (dad). There is always so much to do and see when we go to Chattanooga, it is always a relaxing and peaceful visit! We don't get to go to Chattanooga very often but when we do we always have a blast!
So in the end the week turned out to be great! We are so thankful that there is nothing wrong with Wesley and that both of our children are healthy and happy! We have so much to be thankful for!
